In the meantime, a Hull City man looks set to leave East Yorkshire to make the jump to Turkey - how will this affect the Tigers’ chances of promotion ahead of next season?

Queens Park Rangers closing in on free transfer for Paul Nardi

Queens Park Rangers are eyeing up a free transfer for goalkeeper Paul Nardi in the summer transfer window, according to a report from French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter. On his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Toubache-Ter simply wrote (roughly translated from French): “QPR is pushing hard to get Paul Nardi signed!!”

The Rs are in desperate need of a new shot-stopper before the dawn of next season. Currently, all of their goalkeepers are out of contract at the end of the month - while they are in talks with former Chelsea ‘keeper Asmir Begovic regarding a new deal, the 37-year-old has yet to agree terms to keep him at Loftus Road. In addition to this, the club confirmed back in May that Jordan Archer would leave on a free transfer upon the expiration of his existing deal.

As such, bringing a player in such as Nardi is necessary business, lest they kick off next season without a goalkeeper. He is no slouch - the 30-year-old played in ten Juliper Pro League games last season for KAA Genk, keeping a single clean sheet along the way. Furthermore, he also made two appearances in the Europa Conference League.

Hull City’s Ozan Tufan set for transfer move to Turkey

Hull City ace Ozan Tufan looks set to depart the KC Stadium. The 29-year-old has reportedly agreed a deal to join Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig and will undergo a medical at the club ‘shortly’, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

Tufan was an integral part of the Tigers’ impressive Championship campaign last season, as they came within a whisker of reaching the play-offs at the end of the season - in the end, they missed out by just three points, despite their best efforts.

During the 2023/24 season, Tufan scored ten goals and notched up two assists from the heart of midfield over the course of 37 league appearances. As such, to lose him for just £1.7 million seems like a rough deal for City, as they look to build upon their successes last season.

Writing on his official X page, Sabuncuoglu penned (roughly translated from Turkish): “Trabzonspor added Ozan Tufan, who plays for Hull City, to its squad for 2 million euros. Ozan Tufan will be in Istanbul shortly for his health check.”
