A Wolves defender has been backed to leave the club in the summer - meanwhile, Aston Villa are said to be looking at a Manchester United transfer target.

Euro 2024 may have the attention of the public at this current moment, as England gear up for their final group game of the competition against Slovenia. Before the action kicks off at 8pm, let’s take a quick break and see what is happening around Wolves and Aston Villa today.

Aston Villa have been linked with a Juventus player who is an international player for his native France - however, they would face major competition from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, a journalist has expressed the belief that it is ‘inevitable’ that a Wolves defender will depart the club in the ongoing summer transfer window. Despite this, it may not be so simple - while Wolves had been open to a swap deal in the weeks prior, now they ‘only want money’ for him.

Aston Villa linked with long-term Manchester United transfer target Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United have been linked with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot for well over a year now - however, the Red Devils’ plans to bring him to Old Trafford could be scuppered by Aston Villa, who are reportedly waiting in the wings.

This is according to a report from TEAMtalk. While United are considered the favourites to secure his signature, Villa do have a distinct advantage over the Red Devils - they will be able to offer Rabiot Champions League football next season, because they finished fourth in the Premier League table. United, meanwhile, will play in the Europa League after they defeated Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup.

Villa are not the only other club who have been linked with a move for the France international. TEAMtalk also names Arsenal and ‘several other big clubs’ as interested parties - as such, any attempt the Villans make to snap Rabiot up in the summer transfer window likely will not be smooth sailing.

‘Inevitable’ that Max Kilman leaves Wolves in the summer, says Ryan Leister

Wolves could receive a major blow in the transfer window, according to journalist Ryan Leister. He believes that captain Max Kilman’s departure is ‘inevitable’ following an official offer from fellow Premier League outfit West Ham United.

Previously, Wolves had been open to the idea of a swap deal with the Hammers, as they had been interested in several of their players - including Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell and Danny Ings. Now, however, it seems that they will instead seek a purely financial deal for Kilman’s signature.

Losing Kilman would be a dagger in the heart of Wolves fans. He has been with the club since 2018, having made 127 Premier League appearances during that time and scoring three goals along the way.

Writing on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Leister penned: “It now feels almost inevitable that the Captain [Kilman] will be departing Molineux this summer. Wolves have had an interest in [Michail] Antonio, [Danny] Ings & [Aaron] Cresswell but it appears the club only want money now. It will be interesting to see if the latest #WHU offer drags others in.”
