West Brom could be in the market for a new centre-back after a Premier League club registered their interest in signing an out-of-contract Baggies man.

West Brom and Norwich City are reportedly in competition to sign Toulouse defender Moussa Diarra.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Baggies and the Canaries are among six teams chasing Diarra's signature. Olympique Marseille, OGC Nice and Stade Rennais are all interested in signing him, as well as an unnamed German club.

The 23-year-old is available on a free transfer after deciding that he would leave Toulouse this summer. He departed the Stadium de Toulouse having made 109 appearances over an eight-year spell, and that some of those included playing in the Europa League.

Diarra was part of the Toulouse side that won the Ligue 2 title in 2022 and then went on to win the Coupe de France a year later, allowing them to play in UEFA's second tier competition. He has been capped three times for the Mali national team, with a good amount of experience under his belt.

“After eight years at the club, it is time for me to take a new turn in my football career," said Diarra in a social media post as he confirmed his transfer exit.

"I would like to thank the club for trusting me all these years. Many memories come to mind: my arrival in 2016 at the training center, our journey to Gambardella in 2019, our title of Ligue 2 champion, our victory in the Coupe de France, and of course, the adventure in the Coupe d' Europe. Thank you Toulouse."

West Brom will be in the market for new centre-backs after Erik Pieters was allowed to leave. The Baggies published their retained list in May and it was announced he would be leaving, whilst new contracts have been offered to Cedric Kipre and Kyle Bartley.

Kipre has interest from Turkey with Trabzonspor interested in signing him after opening initial talks. The 27-year-old now has interest from Ipswich Town according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano and with his contract up up this summer, WBA face losing a player that missed just two Championship games last season.
