Meanwhile, a star player at Aston Villa has been strongly advised to remain at Villa Park beyond the end of the summer by a pundit - unless another club in the Champions League puts forth an offer for his services.

Wolves set £63 million asking price for Matheus Cunha amid interest from Manchester United

Wolves star Matheus Cunha is a man in demand. He is thought to be a transfer target for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United - in response, Wolves have set an asking price of £63 million for his services, according to a recent report from CaughtOffside.

United are not the only interested party - Arsenal are also thought to be in the mix, as the Gunners’ quest for a new top striker continues. As things stand, neither team has made an official approach.

Cunha enjoyed a wonderful Premier League campaign at the Molineux Stadium last season. Overall, the 25-year-old scored a total of 12 goals and notched up seven assists over the course of 32 league games for Wolves - should they opt to let him go, they will need to make sure he is adequately replaced using the funds accumulated form his transfer.

Don Goodman says Ollie Watkins ‘should’ stay at Aston Villa

Pundit and former West Bromwich Albion forward Don Goodman is a massive admirer of Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. He thinks that the 28-year-old should remain with the club over the course of the summer transfer window - unless he is ‘offered regular football’ at another team in the 2024/25 Champions League.

Speaking in an interview with Villa News, Goodman said: “It’s a tough one. I’m sure he’ll have a massive amount of loyalty to Aston Villa – or at least he should feel that way.

“The only Premier League team you could rule him out playing every week is Manchester City because of Erling Haaland. It’s a tough one for Villa fans, but for Watkins it must be exciting. He’s already at a big club who are now playing Champions League football. I can categorically say that if I’m him, I wouldn’t be leaving unless I was offered regular football at a team playing in the Champions League.”

Villa should do all they can to hold on to Watkins during the ongoing summer transfer window. He notched up an incredible 19 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League last season - only Chelsea Cole Palmer managed to exceed this number of combined goals and assists. With a potentially turbulent Champions League campaign on the horizon, Villa will need to make sure they hold onto their top player ahead of next season.
