Wolves ‘interested’ in Serie A hotshot but Chelsea ‘determined’ to land defender

Wolverhampton Wanderers are battling to sign a player from Serie A, while Chelsea are eager to sign a young defender.

Wolves have reportedly expressed an interest in Hellas Verona attacking midfielder Tomas Suslov ahead of a potential summer swoop.

The Old Gold are set to challenge Serie A trio AS Roma, Atalanta and Bologna to sign the Slovakia international, reports Verona-based publication L’Arena. Clubs in Germany are also keen on Suslov, who has been instrumental to Hellas since signing initially on loan and then permanently from FC Groningen.

Suslov only turned 22 at the start of June and is currently at the UEFA European Championships in Germany, representing Slovakia. The playmaker, who can play centrally or on the right flank, came off the bench for 20-minute cameos against Belgium and Ukraine.

It was an impressive season for Suslov in Serie A as he scored three goals and made five assists in 32 games, often playing in a deeper-lying role. In that period, the Hellas number 31 won two man of the match awards. He’s also become quite the fan favourite in Verona already.

Wolves face Chelsea interest

In other transfer news, Wanderers are hopeful of shrugging off interest but face a difficult task to keep 16-year-old defender Wesley Okoduwa. The teenager is now eligible to sign scholarship terms with Wolves but All Nigeria Soccer reports Chelsea are keen on snapping him up instead.

Okoduwa was one of those in an around the matchday squad as Wolves struggled with injuries last season as he was named as a substitute for five Premier League fixtures. The right-back, son of former Nigeria striker Emmanuel Okoduwa, will make his decision in the next few days.
