Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly moving closer to making a significant sale as Arsenal are progressing a swoop.

Wolves winger Pedro Neto is once again the subject of interest from the Gunners and a request has reportedly been made to acquire the winger’s medical data ahead of a potential bid.

This is according to Football Transfers, with a recent report stating Mikel Arteta wants to sign Neto – but only if medical tests can prove his fitness. There are concerns over the Portugal international’s injury record as he missed big chunks of the last two seasons, notably through hamstring issues.

Neto was one of Wolves’ best players in 2023/24, even despite not featuring for much of the campaign. The 24-year-old scored two goals and made an impressive nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances. He particularly impressed in the 4-3 home defeat to Manchester United in February as he scored a goal and took home the man of the match award.

Arsenal want that form to transfer over to the Emirates Stadium, but only if they can be assured Neto is capable of cleaning up his injury record. Once medical data - if acquired - is analysed, Arteta will make a decision on whether to make a bid.

Wolves lower Neto asking price amid Arsenal interest

Football Transfers claims Wolves have reduced Neto’s price tag significantly. The Old Gold must sacrifice somebody in order to make signings of their own, while complying with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations (PSR).

It’s stated that Arsenal were named an £80 million asking price in January but that figure has now dropped to a much more reasonable £43 million. If sold for that, Wolves would make a significant profit on the £15 million paid to Lazio for Neto’s services in 2019.
