The grandson of a former West Brom player could be set for a move to the Championship.

As we take a short break from Euro 2024, with the group stage now in the dust, let’s take a quick look at all the biggest transfer rumours around West Bromwich Albion and the Championship at large today.

The grandson of a former Baggie, who played for West Brom during the 1950s, could be set for a transfer move to a club in the Championship - meanwhile, another ex-West Brom man has backed Craig Bellamy to take on a vacant manager’s job in the EFL.

Kenton Richardson, grandson of Fred Richardson, poised for EFL move

Kenton Richardson has been linked with a litany of transfer moves in the EFL, including to Derby County and Oxford United, according to a report from HITC. Notably, he is the grandson for former West Brom player Fred Richardson.

Fred Richardson played for West Brom for a single season between the years of 1950 and 1951. He made 29 appearances for the Baggies overall, scoring eight goals along the way - he also turned out for clubs such as Chelsea, Barnsley and Hartlepool United (then known as Hartlepools United).

Kenton, meanwhile, began his career at Hartlepool. He signed for Sunderland in 2020, but failed to make a single league appearance for the Black Cats.

Carlton Palmer backs Craig Bellamy over Carlos Corberan for Burnley post

Former West Brom and England midfielder Carlton Palmer is a big fan of Craig Bellamy as a coach. So much so, he has back the ex-Wales international to take on the Burnley post ahead of Carlos Corberan, following Vincent Kompany leaving the Clarets to join Bayern Munich.

Speaking with Football League World, Palmer mused: “Reports coming out of Old Trafford are that Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to be named as Erik ten Hag’s assistant manager, which effectively rules him out of the Burnley job.

“That in itself, for me, as a former manager, is a concern to me that part of you staying on in the job is that they appoint a new assistant that you haven’t appointed, again it’s all wrong, but that’s another point.

“So, who will Burnley appoint? As I said, I thought Bellamy would’ve followed Kompany to Bayern Munich, he hasn’t done so. The other two that are very much in the frame are Parker and Corberan. For me, I’d like to see Craig Bellamy given a chance. And the reason I’m saying Craig Bellamy is because he’s been assistant manager to Vincent Kompany, he understands the way the club operates, he understands the DNA of the club and he understands what’s going on in the football club.

“He knows the players really well, and I’d like to see him be given the opportunity to see if he can cut his teeth at management and get Burnley back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. But, either of the two aforementioned Parker or Corberan would be very good replacements, but like I said I’d like to see Bellamy given the opportunity to bring Burnley back to the Premier League.”
