Manchester United have been backed to sign a Wolverhampton Wanderers star to help turn the tide for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Matheus Cunha is once again at the heart of transfer speculation with top clubs across the Premier League and Europe reportedly interested in making a potential swoop.

The Wolves attacker, who scored 14 goals and made eight assists in 36 appearances across all competitions last term, is particularly being linked with Man Utd as part of an expected summer rebuild.

Cunha has been a huge success since joining Wanderers for a huge £44 million from Atletico Madrid, following an initial six-month loan deal. It would be a big blow to lose him but a sale could help a great deal as the Old Gold continue to contend with the Premier League’s strict profit and sustainability regulations (PSR).

There are credible reports linking Cunha with a move away from Wolves, notably from The Mirror. The newspaper claimed on June 1 that scouts from the Red Devils have been watching Cunha consistently, while West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus is another target on the radar.

Man Utd tipped to sign Matheus Cunha

Ex-Man Utd striker Louis Saha, who won two Premier League titles and a Champions League, has backed his former club to sign Cunha, owing to the Brazil international’s technical and physical capabilities. “Every time I see him play, he’s very creative, very powerful, he can break any line, and that kind of skill he’s got is the missing link that we need,” Saha said.

“He’s a player that’s capable of accelerating the game, whether that’s by him passing the ball or dribbling, and he possesses a lot of quality. I won’t be surprised [if Man Utd swoop] and I have no doubts that with some stronger players around him, he can be a terrific player,” Saha continued.
