The number of miles Birmingham City supporters will cover in League One compared to Charlton, Bolton and Wigan

Birmingham City will travel the least amount of miles out of the 24 clubs playing in the League One next season.

Blues face at least a year of football in the third tier but it isn't all bad as they find themselves well placed to travel to away games next season. According to EFL Stats, Birmingham will travel only cover 4,384 miles over the course of next season, which is 32 less than nearest placed Burton Albion.

At the opposite end of that, Exeter City who are based down in Devon will travel just under 9,500 miles, which is 5,071 more than Birmingham. Blackpool are behind the Grecians for the most amount of travelling to do with 7,202 miles but even then they're still doing 2,253 less than the Devonshire based outfit.

The average amount of miles it will take Birmingham City and their supporters to reach an away game and back is 191 miles. Both Burton Albion and Shrewsbury Town will take less than 100 miles to travel to and back this season, making them their shortest trips.

Birmingham are likely to come out on top as the best supported team on the road next season. Third tier clubs will have to try and find a way of accommodating Birmingham fans as demand for tickets will go up given the team won't have played at some of these grounds before or for a long time. There will also be an expectation that Birmingham will be challenging for promotion and supporters will be keen to follow the team and whoever the club appoint as their manager on their journey back to the Championship.
