Birmingham City’s new head coach opens up on his opinion of NFL legend Tom Brady and the club’s staff.

Chris Davies says ‘it’s an exciting time’ to be at Birmingham City after being appointed as the club’s new head coach.

Birmingham have paid compensation to Spurs to make Davies’ appointment happen and he joins with immediate effect. He leaves Spurs after little over a year.

“I am proud and honoured to be the Manager of Birmingham City,” said Davies on the official club website.

“As soon as I spoke with Tom, Garry, Tom Brady, and other board members it was clear to me how passionate and committed the board and all of the Football Leadership Team are to bringing success to this club.

“It is a club with an ambition that reflects my own, and a plan to make it a reality. It is such an exciting time to be at Blues.”

The appointment of the former Reading youth midfielder represents Davies with his first job in senior management. He was heavily linked to the Swansea City job earlier this year but that went to Luke Williams.

His experience includes working under Brendan Rodgers at four different clubs; Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City. He holds the UEFA Pro Licence which is the highest qualification a coach can hold.

Davies will now get down to business and address tasks such as assembling a squad capable of winning promotion at the first attempt. John Ruddy and Lukas Jutkiewicz have been offered new contracts and there is a transfer shortlist to be drawn up.

“I can’t wait to get started,” added Davies.

Meeting everyone at the Club and speaking to our supporters.

“I will give everything to build an attacking team that reflects this great city, and most importantly to produce a team that our supporters can be proud of. Let’s go.”
