Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly expressed an interest in an Aston Villa and Crystal Palace target.

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has been heavily linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs for months and the speculation has intensified following the Lilywhites’ failure to gain promotion to the English top flight.

Summerville registed an impressive 19 goals and nine assists in 43 Championship matches for Leeds last term. The season before that - in the Premier League - was less successful as he scored just four times in 24 matches, but the Dutchman had a year less experience at that stage.

Transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano reports Brighton are the latest team to join the race having officially expressed an interest in Summerville. It’s claimed the Seagulls have initiated talks with the Yorkshire outfit, eager to get ahead of other clubs in the fight.

Villa, keen to add a pacy, skilful and clinical winger to their ranks, have been closely linked to Summerville. Crystal Palace are also interested as the Eagles are sounding out replacements in case Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze depart this summer.

Summerville not short of Premier League suitors

It’s been described by Romano as a complex situation as many other clubs are in the picture, including Liverpool and Chelsea who are monitoring Summerville’s situation. Able to play on either wing, the forward would provide useful versatility for any potential suitor.

In terms of an asking price, a bidding war could of course ensue due to the level and wideness of interest but local reports suggest Leeds will demand around £40 million. Villa, restricted in their spending, could miss out unless they make sales and lodge a bid swiftly.
