Aston Villa have reportedly reached a full agreement to sell a midfielder to Premier League rivals Everton.

The Villans have struck gold as the Toffees are said to have bid £10 million to sign Tim Iroegbunam, a midfielder not in Unai Emery’s long-term plans.

It’s a significant sale that - if it goes through - will go a long way towards Villa abiding with the Premier League’s strict profit and sustainability regulations (PSR). It’s been widely reported that Emery’s side are short and could face sanctions if players aren’t sold this month, but Iroegbunam departing will be a great help.

Football Insider reports a full agreement has been reached between Villa and Everton for Iroegbunam to move to Goodison Park. It’s claimed that a breakthrough has been found following a succession of talks, with Sean Dyche’s side seeing a £10 million offer accepted.

Iroegbunam racked up 15 senior appearances last season as Villa achieved a remarkable top-four Premier League finish and reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League. But the midfielder’s total minutes were severely limited as Emery preferred the likes of Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn and Youri Tielemans in the midfield double pivot.

Meanwhile, Wolves suffer transfer blow

In other West Midlands transfer news, Villa’s local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly missed out on a striker target. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia is closing in on a season-long loan move to fellow Serie A side Lazio.

It’s claimed the attacker’s transfer includes an obligation to buy for around €16 million (£13.5 million). Wolves had been credited with a strong interest and had held preliminary talks with Dia’s representatives.
