Aston Villa can now complete a signing from Chelsea and an array of other deals following excellent news regarding PSR.

Aston Villa can now spend more freely as the Villans have surpassed their requirement to sell players to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

The Athletic reports enough sales have now been formalised for Unai Emery to kick-start tactical improvements, beginning with the completion of Ian Maatsen’s £37.5 million signing from Chelsea. Villa are keen to add depth and quality in an array of positions ahead of their first campaign in the UEFA Champions League.

Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus for £23.7 million plus Samuel Iling Junior and Enzo Barrenechea has been a great aid in getting over the PSR line, but deals for two academy players have been even more vital. Everton signed Tim Iroegbunam for £9 million last week and Omari Kellyman is closing in on a £19 million switch to Chelsea.

The Premier League has reportedly warned clubs aiming to seek PSR loopholes but this new update should alleviate concerns that Villa will get caught up in that debate. Emery, on holiday but chipping in with transfer yea or nays, will be delighted with the news as he can go ahead with moves for a variety of targets.
