A family-run funeral director which employs ex-service men and women is celebrating Armed Forces Day by encouraging other West Mids businesses to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

Held each year on the last Saturday of June, the 29th this year, Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to show support for those in the Armed Forces community, from those currently serving, to Service families, veterans and cadets.

Jennifer Ashe & Son currently employs four ex-service men and women among its 20 staff, across five branches in the West Midlands and Staffordshire, and signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2023 – a pact outlining the business’ dedication to supporting ex-service men and women.

There has been a big focus on our wellbeing and future prospects, and that was reaffirmed when the business signed the Armed Forces Covenant last year.

“The team have helped support me with my transition into civilian work life, making it enjoyable and rewarding in the process.”

John Ashe, Managing Director at Jennifer Ashe & Son, is keen to honour those who have served their country, like Steven: “It is a no-brainer to support our Armed Forces, from our active service men and women, to those who have served, such as Steven.

This Armed Forces Day, we’re encouraging other businesses in the West Midlands to sign the Armed Forces Covenant too.
