11 Birmingham road closures on A roads and motorways for drivers to avoid

Birmingham's motorists will have 11 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A446, from 9pm April 2 to 6am April 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, carriageway and lane closures for improvement works, diversion is via National Highways and local authority network.

• M42, from 6am February 12 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 8, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures due to technology works, diversion via National Highways network.

• M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

• M6, from 6am January 12 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Hard shoulder closures with 50mph speed restriction for maintenance works.

• M5, from 9pm April 15 to 6am April 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for inspection/survey works.

• M5, from 9pm April 16 to 6am April 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 1 to M6 junction, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M6, from 9pm April 17 to 6am April 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closures due to communication works.

• M6, from 9pm April 19 to 6am April 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 5, exit slip road closure for communications works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

• M6, from 8pm April 21 to 6am April 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• A446, from 9pm April 22 to 6am April 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3a to junction 4, carriageway closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways network.

• A456, from 9pm April 25 to 6am April 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions Kitwell to Ridgeacre, Lane closures for maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
