The woman had separated from friends following a night out in the city centre where he then approached her, and tried to entice her into his vehicle.

Alnamer took advantage of the woman after following her in his car, encouraging her to join him, and the next morning she was found to have been sexually assaulted.

Alnamer then sold the vehicle used in the crime two days later.

Following a lengthy and complex investigation including reviewing CCTV footage, along with forensic analysis, West Midlands Police identified Alnamer as the attacker.

The 35-year-old was arrested in March last year and charged with rape.

Alnamer, of Stadium Road in Hall Green, denied the crime, pleading not guilty, but following a trial he was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court in February.

He was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday, May 1.

West Midlands Police stated: “It is important to note that survivors of rape are protected by law and have life-long anonymity. We work closely with local partners and venues to ensure your safety on a night out. You can find out more about our Safer Nights campaigns .”
