A reward of £20,000 is being offered to catch the killers of a man described as a "very kind soul" who was stabbed to death three years ago.

Kevin Lomas’ body was discovered in his bedroom at his flat in Birmingham on April 2, 2021. A man, 42, and a woman, 37, were arrested in connection with the 56-year-old’s murder in 2021 and were released on bail.

West Midlands Police have released CCTV showing Kevin’s last known movements days before he was killed. Footage shows him leaving the multi-occupancy property on Stratford Road, Hall Green, before returning minutes later.

Independent charity Crimestoppers is offering up to £20,000 for vital information about Kevin’s killers. The reward is available for three months and will expire on July 29 this year.

West Midlands Regional Manager Alan Edwards said: "We are offering this reward as we hope it will encourage someone with key information to come forward to share what they know.

“Kevin is described by his family as ‘someone who would give you a helping hand’ if it was needed. Our charity would like to help Kevin’s heartbroken family see justice. If you prefer not to speak directly to the authorities, you can stay completely anonymous.”

The motive for Kevin’s murder remains a mystery with his family desperate for answers. His devastated family described Kevin as a "very kind soul", adding: "Considering you were quite shy when you were young, you embodied everything in life that was bright.

“If anyone felt low, Kevin would lift you. If you needed help Kev would give you a helping hand. He just wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy life as he wanted to do so himself. Tragically this was taken from him. Our poor brother. Three years have passed and it’s been a struggle losing you in such terrible circumstances.”

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, leading the investigation, said: “Three years have now passed and sadly we have not been able to get Kevin’s family the answers that they deserve. “We’ve carried out lots of enquiries in the area, including CCTV, witness and forensic work, but sadly we’ve not been able to gather enough evidence to charge anyone with Kevin’s murder.

“Now that some time has lapsed, I’m hoping that there are people who know who is responsible for this and that they realise that now is the time to do the right thing and come forward.”
